Aging with time............

Time is the theme for my project for BA5 in a nutshell. But if I go into more depth..............I'm investigating how uncontrobable the power of time is through aging. We all go through this process of aging, every second, of every minute, of everyday whether you like it or not! Most people see again as something ugly. The human race is constantly looking for new ways to keep themselves looking younger for longer, but if you look into this natural process a little closer its actually quite beautiful.
Below, an example of the black and white line drawings I have been working on;

The next three following photographs I took to use the sand landscapes as metaphors of aging skin. All Photographs taken at Holkham Bay, Norwich, Norfolk.

After continuous drawing develpoment, I have reached the stage of starting to create some fabric samples, for this warp I have used 100% pure cotton, and hand dip-dyed the warp myself.

Below are a few examples of my sampling so far. I am using an 8 shaft loom, and have decided to do a double cloth weave, within this I have incorporated pleats.

To create this effect below I have used devore to burn away the cotton fibres, which them just leaves the remaining silk yarn on show.
